I would like to introduce myself as the new Director of Development at the Haitian Education and Leadership Program; I’m pleased to have met some of you at the Haitian art auction in New York last month. If you were not’t able to join us, you can get a flavor of the event by viewing the HaitianXchange video. You’ll see some of the performances that captivated our 150 guests, including the dulcet tones of Manze Dayila and a special appearance by the dance and drumming troupe Ayiti Dans Ansam’m. The New Year is a special time in Haiti.  The houses are re-painted, the soup joumou is cooked, and the church services run even longer than normal.   It is a holiday of hope.  With that in mind, Haiti Innovation hopes that you and your families will have a  healthy and happy holiday season.  

There are more Haitian doctors in Florida than in Haiti.  When you speak to them, their frustration is palpable.  Many want an opportunity to give back to their country - but at the same time, they want the resources and tools they need to make a difference for their patients. 

I recently came across a very interesting blog called "Black Gives Back", which focused on the activities of black philanthropists and black philanthropic organizations. It is well-designed and prominently features Wyclef Jean.

On October 15th, an article appeared on CNN.com recognizing Susie Scott Krabacher, former Playboy Playmate, for her ongoing work to bring health care to orphans and vulnerable children.

Below is an announcement  that the Green Family Foundation will be providing 2.4 million for health care and nutrition programs in Haiti.  The Green Family Foundation has been supporting innovative programming in Haiti for years.
