Update: Offending Peacekeeprs May Be Prosecuted (4/3/2008)
The Sri Lankan Sunday Times reported the UN will charge 114 Sri Lankan Security Forces (SF) (including 108 assigned MINUSTAH forces in Haiti) who were on peace-keeping missions with sexual exploitation and abuse against children.
The UN has a zero tolerance policy regarding sexual exploitation and asked the 108 Sri Lankan soldiers to return home after a preliminary investigation found that they paid for prostitutes, including some who might be underage. The Sri Lankan military said the soldiers could face severe punishment as a result of their behavior.
