Last week I received a letter from a relatively large, international NGO. The letter, which was quite hefty, contained a pamphlet describing the work that the NGO was currently doing, a letter from the organization, a monthly newsletter and finally a donation card with a self addressed envelope. The first question that went through my mind was “how much did all of this cost?”

Girls of Cite Soleil Little girls on the street of Port Au Prince are suffering quietly. They walk through thick traffic begging for food and/or money. These precious little blessings, some as young as four or five years old, weave in and out of traffic, dodging cars, hoping that someone will throw them a few coins. They must beg to survive. Project Medishare Fundraiser

This Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., the Tallahassee Community College will host a fund-raiser for Project Medishare. Project Medishare is an organization dedicated to improving the health of the Haitian people by re-establishing the health infrastructure in several communities and facilities throughout Haiti.
The event will feature a screening of "There Once Was a Country," a documentary about Haiti narrated by Maya Angelou, food, drinks and cultural dance by the Tallahassee Community College’s Haitian Culture Club.
