HAVANA, May 8 (Xinhua) -- The Health Ministers from the Dominican Republic and Haiti met on Friday in Jimani, the Dominican Republic, to coordinate actions against the A/H1N1 flu.

A representative from the World Health Organization (WHO) also attended the meeting in Jimani, capital of the Independencia province.

The Dominican Republic faces a strong threat of infections of the A/H1N1 flu virus due to massive flow of tourists.

The Dominican authorities fear that undocumented Haitians who cross the common border into the Dominican Republic to seek employment could have been infected with the virus, and could introduce it into Dominican territory.

The WHO said that the A/H1N1 flu virus continues spreading. So far, there have been 2,371 infections in 25 countries, with 45 deaths in Mexico and two in the United States.
