I've just returned from a medical mission in Haiti. Though I was very touched by the people and their health problems, I was struck by the garbage and the use of plastic. I saw that most of the shopping bags are plastic and the takeout? food was in styrofoam containers. All of this winds up in the smoldering garbage heaps or just on the ground - Could there be a small solution by introducing cloth bags? Does composting exist there for the piles of food refuse? I would like to contact Jane Wynne to see how I can help?
