Questions of Faith

Dave,

I respect your opinion although I disagree. If every tear shed and prayer said for Haiti were really making a difference, then people would not be fleeing Haiti as they are today.

But to understand Haiti, it is neccesary to set down the Bible and pick up the history books as well. The United States has played a major role in making Haiti what it is today. To criticize Haitians for their plight is to add insult to injury.

I find many Missionaries are not just advocating belief in God, but a conceptualization of God in their own image. Couldnt help but notice your swipe at the Catholic church, for example.

What really frightens me is that what you are saying about Haiti would probably apply to Thai Buddhists, Malaysian Muslims, and anyone else who does not belive as you do. That's a lot of people who are going to hell!

You mentioned HIV/AIDS due to promiscuous living. A loyal wife can contract HIV from a cheating husband. A newborn can contract HIV from his/her mother. Let's not generalize all those living with HIV/AIDS.

Let me close on a more positive note. Thank you for the work you are doing in Haiti with orphanges. I wish communities could absorb all orphans, but this is not always the case. Thank you for being involved.

Bryan
